Amusement Award Allowances 2025–26

Rates effective 17 October 2025 · MA000080

Allowances under the Amusement Award are extra payments for specific conditions, skills, or expenses. They are one of the most commonly missed entitlements after penalty rates.

Current allowances

First aid allowance$0.56 per hourIf you hold a current first aid certificate and are appointed by your employer as the first aid officer, you are entitled to a first aid allowance. It is paid per hour worked, up to a weekly maximum.
First aid allowance (weekly maximum)$21.37 per weekThe first aid allowance of $0.56/hr is capped at a maximum of $21.37 per week.
Meal allowance$14.62 per mealIf your employer requires you to work overtime and a meal break falls within that overtime, you are entitled to a meal allowance per meal.
Vehicle allowance (use of own vehicle)$0.98 per kmIf your employer requires you to use your own vehicle for work purposes, you are entitled to a per-kilometre allowance.
Uniform laundering allowance$1.32 per shiftIf your employer requires you to launder a uniform at your own expense, you are entitled to a daily laundering allowance (up to a weekly cap).
Uniform laundering allowance (weekly maximum)$6.62 per weekThe daily uniform laundering allowance of $1.32/day is capped at $6.62 per week.
Cancelled shift allowance (casual)$0.00 per shiftIf you are a casual employee and your employer cancels your shift without proper notice, you are entitled to payment for 3 hours at the minimum hourly rate for your grade.
In charge allowance (golf, bowling, tennis)$56.95 per weekIf you are in charge of a golf course with more than 18 holes, bowling greens, or lawn tennis courts, you are entitled to a weekly in-charge allowance.
Tool allowance (carpenter)$30.88 per weekIf you are a carpenter required to supply and maintain your own tools, you are entitled to a weekly tool allowance.
Tool allowance (other tradesperson)$15.83 per weekIf you are a tradesperson (not a carpenter) required to supply and maintain your own tools, you are entitled to a weekly tool allowance.
Tractor/plant allowance$0.84 per hourIf you are required to operate a tractor or plant equipment, you are entitled to an hourly allowance (up to a weekly maximum).
