Animal Care & Vet Award Allowances 2025–26

Allowances under the Animal Care & Vet Award are extra payments for specific conditions, skills, or expenses. They are one of the most commonly missed entitlements after penalty rates.
Current allowances
| Allowance | Amount | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Meal allowance | $14.99 per meal | If you work overtime and your employer did not give you notice the day before, you are entitled to a meal allowance of $14.99. |
| Meal allowance (further) | $12.88 per meal | For each further period of overtime of 4 hours or more after the initial meal allowance, you are entitled to a further meal allowance of $12.88. |
| Vehicle allowance (car) | $0.98 per km | If you are required to use your own car for work purposes, you are entitled to $0.98 per kilometre. |
| Vehicle allowance (motorcycle) | $0.33 per km | If you are required to use your own motorcycle for work purposes, you are entitled to $0.33 per kilometre. |
| Clothing and laundry allowance | $6.51 per week | If your employer requires you to wear a uniform and does not supply or launder it, you are entitled to $6.51 per week. |
