Fire Fighting Award Allowances 2025–26

Allowances under the Fire Fighting Award are extra payments for specific conditions, skills, or expenses. They are one of the most commonly missed entitlements after penalty rates.
Current allowances
| Allowance | Amount | When it applies |

| First aid allowance | $20.83 per week | Paid to an employee who holds a current first aid certificate and is appointed as a first aid officer. |
| Heavy rescue appliance allowance | $25.64 per week | Paid to employees assigned to operate or crew a heavy rescue appliance. |
| Meal allowance | $19.93 per shift | Paid when an employee is required to work overtime and a meal break falls during the overtime period. |
| Qualification allowance — IFE Graduate Certificate | $18.16 per week | Paid to an employee who holds an Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Graduate Certificate. |
| Qualification allowance — IFE + Certificate in Fire Technology | $26.71 per week | Paid to an employee who holds both an IFE qualification and a Certificate in Fire Technology. |
| Qualification allowance — IFE + Membership | $33.12 per week | Paid to an employee who holds an IFE qualification and maintains IFE membership. |
| Relieving allowance | $33.98 per shift | Paid when an employee is required to relieve in a higher classification or at another station. |
| Special administrative duties allowance | $77.99 per week | Paid to an employee who is required to perform special administrative duties in addition to normal duties. |
| Vehicle allowance — motor vehicle | $0.99 per km | Paid per kilometre when an employee uses their own motor vehicle for work purposes. |
| Vehicle allowance — motorcycle | $0.33 per km | Paid per kilometre when an employee uses their own motorcycle for work purposes. |
