Gardening & Landscaping Award Allowances 2025–26

Allowances under the Gardening & Landscaping Award are extra payments for specific conditions, skills, or expenses. They are one of the most commonly missed entitlements after penalty rates.
Current allowances

| Leading hand allowance — in charge of 1 to 2 employees (all-purpose) | $0.56 per hour | If you are directed by management to be in charge of 1 to 2 employees, you receive $0.56 per hour as an all-purpose allowance. Added to base rate before casual loading, penalty rates, and overtime. |
| Leading hand allowance — in charge of 3 to 6 employees (all-purpose) | $1.12 per hour | If you are directed by management to be in charge of 3 to 6 employees, you receive $1.12 per hour as an all-purpose allowance. Added to base rate before casual loading, penalty rates, and overtime. |
| Leading hand allowance — in charge of 7 to 9 employees (all-purpose) | $1.41 per hour | If you are directed by management to be in charge of 7 to 9 employees, you receive $1.41 per hour as an all-purpose allowance. Added to base rate before casual loading, penalty rates, and overtime. |
| Leading hand allowance — in charge of 10+ employees (all-purpose) | $1.97 per hour | If you are directed by management to be in charge of 10 or more employees, you receive $1.97 per hour as an all-purpose allowance. Added to base rate before casual loading, penalty rates, and overtime. |
| Tool allowance — Level 4 & Level 5 tradespersons (all-purpose) | $0.42 per hour | If you are a Level 4 or Level 5 tradesperson required to supply and maintain your own tools, you receive $0.42 per hour as an all-purpose allowance. Added to base rate before casual loading, penalty rates, and overtime. |
| First aid allowance | $21.37 per week | If you hold a current first aid certificate and your employer has appointed you as the person responsible for first aid, you receive $21.37 per week. |
| Meal allowance | $18.84 per meal | If you are required to work overtime and a meal break falls during overtime, you are entitled to a meal allowance of $18.84 per meal. |
| Vehicle allowance | $0.98 per km | If you are required to use your own vehicle for work purposes, you receive $0.98 per kilometre. |
| Operating vehicle/plant allowance | $6.41 per day | If you are required to operate a vehicle or plant as part of your duties, you receive $6.41 per day. |
| Clothing and equipment reimbursement | $0.00 | If your employer requires you to wear or use specific clothing or equipment, you are entitled to reimbursement of the cost. |
