Hair & Beauty Award Allowances 2025–26

Allowances under the Hair & Beauty Award are extra payments for specific conditions, skills, or expenses. They are one of the most commonly missed entitlements after penalty rates.
Current allowances
| Allowance | Amount | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| First aid allowance | $13.89 per week | If you hold a current first aid certificate and are appointed as first aid officer, you receive a weekly allowance. |
| Manager's allowance | $53.42 per week | If you are required to manage a salon or business, you receive a weekly allowance. |
| Meal allowance | $23.74 per meal | If you are required to work overtime and a meal break falls during that overtime, you are entitled to a meal allowance. A second meal allowance applies if overtime exceeds 4 hours. |
| Tool allowance | $10.52 per week | If you are required to provide and maintain your own tools and equipment, you receive a weekly allowance. |
| District allowance — Broken Hill | $45.73 per week | If you work in the Broken Hill district, you receive a weekly district allowance. |
