Health Professionals Award Allowances 2025–26

Allowances under the Health Professionals Award are extra payments for specific conditions, skills, or expenses. They are one of the most commonly missed entitlements after penalty rates.
Current allowances
| Allowance | Amount | When it applies |

| Meal allowance (overtime > 1 hour) | $16.62 per meal | If you work overtime for more than 1 hour and your employer did not give you notice the day before, you are entitled to a meal allowance of $16.62. |
| Meal allowance (further 4 hours overtime) | $14.98 per meal | If you continue working overtime for a further 4 hours after your first meal break, you are entitled to an additional meal allowance of $14.98. |
| Vehicle allowance | $0.99 per km | If you are required to use your own vehicle for work purposes, you are entitled to $0.99 per kilometre driven. |
| Tool allowance (chefs and cooks) | $13.41 per week | If you are a chef or cook required to provide and maintain your own tools and equipment, you are entitled to $13.41 per week. |
| Uniform allowance (per shift) | $1.23 per shift | If your employer requires you to wear a uniform and does not provide or launder it, you are entitled to $1.23 per shift. |
| Uniform allowance (per week) | $6.24 per week | If your employer requires you to wear a uniform and does not provide or launder it, you are entitled to $6.24 per week. |
| Laundry allowance (per shift) | $0.32 per shift | If you are required to launder your own uniform, you are entitled to $0.32 per shift. |
| Laundry allowance (per week) | $1.49 per week | If you are required to launder your own uniform, you are entitled to $1.49 per week. |
| On-call allowance (Monday to Saturday) | $25.15 per day | If you are required to be on call from Monday to Saturday, you are entitled to $25.15 per 24-hour period. |
| On-call allowance (Sunday/Public Holiday) | $50.18 per day | If you are required to be on call on a Sunday or public holiday, you are entitled to $50.18 per 24-hour period. |
