Horse & Greyhound Training Award Classification Levels 2025–26

Rates effective 1 July 2025 · MA000066

Your classification level under the Horse & Greyhound Training Award determines your minimum pay rate. Being classified one level too low can cost you $2–4 per hour — more than $3,000 per year for a full-time worker.

Classification levels

Level 1Stablehand/Kennel Attendant Level 1

Base rate: $25.44/hr · Casual: $31.80/hr

Level 2Stablehand/Kennel Attendant Level 2

Base rate: $26.27/hr · Casual: $32.84/hr

Level 3Trackwork Rider/Senior Attendant Level 3

Base rate: $27.04/hr · Casual: $33.80/hr

Level 4Senior Trackwork Rider Level 4

Base rate: $28.26/hr · Casual: $35.33/hr

Level 5Head Stablehand/Foreperson Level 5

Base rate: $29.62/hr · Casual: $37.03/hr
