Poultry Processing Award Allowances 2025–26

Allowances under the Poultry Processing Award are extra payments for specific conditions, skills, or expenses. They are one of the most commonly missed entitlements after penalty rates.
Current allowances
| Allowance | Amount | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Meal allowance (overtime) | $18.38 per meal | If you work overtime and a meal break is due, you are entitled to a meal allowance of $18.38 if your employer does not provide a meal. |
| Vehicle allowance | $0.98 per km | If you are required to use your own vehicle for work purposes, you are entitled to $0.98 per kilometre driven. |
| First aid allowance | $21.41 per week | If you are appointed as a first aid officer and hold a current first aid certificate, you are entitled to $21.41 per week. |
| Cold work allowance (-15.6 to -18 degrees C) | $0.95 per hour | If you are required to work in a cold environment between -15.6 and -18 degrees Celsius, you are entitled to an extra $0.95 per hour. |
| Cold work allowance (-18 to -23.3 degrees C) | $1.67 per hour | If you are required to work in a cold environment between -18 and -23.3 degrees Celsius, you are entitled to an extra $1.67 per hour. |
| Cold work allowance (below -23.3 degrees C) | $2.62 per hour | If you are required to work in a cold environment below -23.3 degrees Celsius, you are entitled to an extra $2.62 per hour. |
| Leading hand allowance (1-19 employees) | $39.11 per week | If you are appointed as a leading hand supervising 1 to 19 employees, you are entitled to an extra $39.11 per week. This is an all-purpose allowance, which means it is included when calculating overtime, penalty rates and leave. |
| Leading hand allowance (20+ employees) | $65.35 per week | If you are appointed as a leading hand supervising 20 or more employees, you are entitled to an extra $65.35 per week. This is an all-purpose allowance, which means it is included when calculating overtime, penalty rates and leave. |
