Rail Industry Award Classification Levels 2025–26

Your classification level under the Rail Industry Award determines your minimum pay rate. Being classified one level too low can cost you $2–4 per hour — more than $3,000 per year for a full-time worker.

Base rate: $25.44/hr · Casual: $31.80/hr

Level 2Rail Worker Level 2

Base rate: $26.27/hr · Casual: $32.84/hr

Level 3Rail Worker Level 3

Base rate: $27.04/hr · Casual: $33.80/hr

Level 4Rail Worker Level 4

Base rate: $28.26/hr · Casual: $35.33/hr

Level 5Rail Worker Level 5

Base rate: $29.62/hr · Casual: $37.03/hr
