School Teachers Award Classification Levels 2025–26

Rates effective 1 July 2025 · MA000077

Your classification level under the School Teachers Award determines your minimum pay rate. Being classified one level too low can cost you $2–4 per hour — more than $3,000 per year for a full-time worker.

Classification levels

Level 1Graduate Teacher (Level 1)

Base rate: $36.69/hr · Casual: $45.86/hr

Level 2Teacher Level 2 (Proficient)

Base rate: $40.10/hr · Casual: $50.13/hr

Level 3Teacher Level 3 (3 years at Level 2)

Base rate: $43.66/hr · Casual: $54.58/hr

Level 4Teacher Level 4 (3 years at Level 3)

Base rate: $47.21/hr · Casual: $59.01/hr

Level 5Teacher Level 5 (Highly Accomplished/Lead)

Base rate: $50.76/hr · Casual: $63.45/hr
