Broadcasting & Cinemas Award Allowances 2025–26

Allowances under the Broadcasting & Cinemas Award are extra payments for specific conditions, skills, or expenses. They are one of the most commonly missed entitlements after penalty rates.
Current allowances
| Allowance | Amount | When it applies |

| First aid allowance (full-time) | $21.37 per week | If you are appointed as the first aid officer and hold a current first aid qualification, you receive a weekly allowance. |
| First aid allowance (part-time/casual) | $0.56 per hour | If you are appointed as the first aid officer and hold a current first aid qualification, you receive an hourly allowance. |
| Meal allowance | $23.43 per meal | If you are required to work overtime and a meal break falls during that overtime, you are entitled to a meal allowance. |
| Vehicle allowance — car | $0.98 per km | If you are required to use your own car for work purposes, you receive a per-kilometre allowance. |
| Vehicle allowance — motorcycle | $0.51 per km | If you are required to use your own motorcycle for work purposes, you receive a per-kilometre allowance. |
| Uniform allowance | $1.51 per day | If you are required to wear a uniform and the employer does not provide or launder it, you receive a daily allowance (up to $7.41/week). |
| Director's allowance — trainee director | $7.67 per hour | Trainee directors receive an hourly allowance in addition to their base rate. |
| Director's allowance — director | $7.89 per hour | Directors receive an hourly allowance in addition to their base rate. |
| Director's allowance — senior director | $8.44 per hour | Senior directors receive an hourly allowance in addition to their base rate. |
| Director's allowance — director major production | $8.78 per hour | Directors of major productions receive an hourly allowance in addition to their base rate. |
| Director's allowance — supervising director | $9.51 per hour | Supervising directors receive an hourly allowance in addition to their base rate. |
| BOCP allowance | $0.51 per hour | Broadcasting outside coverage program allowance. |
| TVOCP allowance | $1.49 per hour | Television outside coverage program allowance. |
| Laundry allowance (motion picture) | $8.30 per day | If you are required to launder your own costume or wardrobe in motion picture production, you receive a daily allowance. |
