Security Award — Allowances

Allowances are extra payments for specific conditions, skills, or expenses. They are one of the most commonly missed entitlements after penalty rates.
| Allowance | Amount | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Aviation allowance | $2.02 per hour | If you are required to perform security duties at an airport or aviation facility, you are entitled to an hourly aviation allowance. |
| Firearm allowance | $3.67 per shift | If you are required to carry a firearm as part of your duties, you are entitled to a per-shift firearm allowance (max $18.34/week). |
| First aid allowance | $7.33 per shift | If you are appointed as a first aid officer and hold a current first aid qualification, you are entitled to a per-shift first aid allowance (max $36.46/week). |
| Meal allowance | $21.27 per shift | If you are required to work overtime and are not given a meal break, you are entitled to a meal allowance. |
| Vehicle allowance (car) | $0.98 per km | If you are required to use your own car for work purposes, you are entitled to a per-kilometre allowance. |
| Vehicle allowance (motorcycle) | $0.33 per km | If you are required to use your own motorcycle for work purposes, you are entitled to a per-kilometre allowance. |
