Security Award — Allowances

Allowances are extra payments for specific conditions, skills, or expenses. They are one of the most commonly missed entitlements after penalty rates.

AllowanceAmountWhen it applies
Aviation allowance$2.02 per hourIf you are required to perform security duties at an airport or aviation facility, you are entitled to an hourly aviation allowance.
Firearm allowance$3.67 per shiftIf you are required to carry a firearm as part of your duties, you are entitled to a per-shift firearm allowance (max $18.34/week).
First aid allowance$7.33 per shiftIf you are appointed as a first aid officer and hold a current first aid qualification, you are entitled to a per-shift first aid allowance (max $36.46/week).
Meal allowance$21.27 per shiftIf you are required to work overtime and are not given a meal break, you are entitled to a meal allowance.
Vehicle allowance (car)$0.98 per kmIf you are required to use your own car for work purposes, you are entitled to a per-kilometre allowance.
Vehicle allowance (motorcycle)$0.33 per kmIf you are required to use your own motorcycle for work purposes, you are entitled to a per-kilometre allowance.
