Clerks Award Penalty Rates 2025

Penalty rates are higher pay rates for working at particular times — weekends, public holidays, evenings, and late nights. These multipliers are applied to your base hourly rate.
Full-time & part-time penalty rates

| Saturday | ×1.3 | Saturday — time and a quarter (×1.25, 7am–12:30pm base rule) |
| Sunday | ×2.0 | Sunday — double time (×2.0) |
| Public Holiday | ×2.5 | Public holiday — double time and a half (×2.5) |
Casual penalty rates
Casual penalty rate multipliers are applied to the casual base rate, which already includes the 25% casual loading.

| Saturday | ×1.2 | Casual Saturday morning — ×1.20 of casual base (= ×1.50 of FT rate) |

| Public Holiday | ×2.2 | Casual public holiday — ×2.20 of casual base |
